Nuclear power generation is an important way to solve energy problem world wide, and an important part of energy strategy in our country. Domestic manufacture and supplyment of cables used in nuclear power station is of strategy importance. The designing method and material selecting principle is put forward. The key difference between category K3 nuclear class cable and ordinary non-halogen flame-retardants cable was distinguished in the paper. The development of category K3 cable for Qinshan nuclear station projects I and II was reported in the paper. The properties, such as mechanical physical, flame-retardants and gas-burning corrosion, of the cable come to advanced international lever. According to the theorem of heat-oxygen ageing, thermal life evaluation parameters and test method is chosen reasonably. The performance of thermal ageing of ethylene -propylene rubber insulation for production is evaluated practically. For the development category K1 cable in the nuclear environment, the testing of nuclear environment experiment procedures from USA, Japan, German, France was compared and analyzed. The using surrounding of category K1 nuclear class cable is understood profoundly. Irradation-resistant and behave in nuclear accident of polymer used as cable insulation was also compared. The abundant of contrast tests is carried out to every experimentation programmer under the nuclear circumstance and the performers after test of cable developed by oneself and the cable of France and Italy. Because the construction of nuclear power station in our country is in initial stage, the research & development of nuclear class cable is just started. The properties and technical specifications of the products are not agreed well. The design, experimental study and analysis of properties, such as burning property, nuclear environment resistant property and evaluation of 40 years life expectancy were carried out only according to technical specification of nuclear class cable of 2nd project of Qinshan nuclear power station, and present conditions & technology level of nuclear class cable of developed countries.
